raised of a £800 goal
Thank you so much for visiting my sponsorship page. I am raising money for The Libearty Bear Sanctuary by trekking two of the Carpathian Mountain summits, trekking through the habitat of the Bear and Wolf. Your support will really help push me up those mountains, trek in bear country, raise awareness of the conservation effort to retain this important wildlife habitat as well as give back to the previously abused bears of Romania. We are so lucky to have this wildlife stronghold in Europe. Who knew we had such an incredible wildlife habitat right here on our doorstep. All funds go direct to the Libearty Bear sanctuary and you will receive confirmation of your donation in an email shortly after. I’d love to hear any kind words of encouragement in the comments below which allows everyone to see who is supporting me.
Day 1) Starting at base camp at the foot of Bucegi Massif we Ascend to Piatra Arsa (1950m) sleeping in cabana accommodation.
Day 3) Depart Piatra Arsa – Ascend to the Bucegi summit (2500m), reaching spectacular viewpoints at Cabana Omu. We then descend through stunning terrain off of the Bucegi massif to Bran and sneak a peak at Dracula’s Castle. We start our next ascent up the Piatra Craiului Mountains to Pestera, reaching our cabin accommodation at Cabain Casa Folea(1190m).
Day 4) We depart Pestera, heading to the summit at Piscul Baciului (2237m) for spectacular viewpoints and a special visit to the bats cave on the way. We then descend to reach Curmatura (1470m) for the evening where we spend the night camping in tents on the mountain.
Day 5) Waking from my tent in the Piatra Craiului mountains, we depart Curmatura and descend to reach the final destination of the Libearty Bear Sanctuary! To be guided by an expert at the sanctuary, meet the many formidable brown bears and see the incredible achievement’s for their welfare. I will witness how our fundraising efforts help these previously abused bears have a peaceful and playful future in the sanctuary’s forests. Dinner will be served at the sanctuary’s house, spend the night in a tepee and warmed by a fire amongst the countryside of Zarnesti, feeling thrilled about what I have achieved.
How our fundraising helps
Did you know that bears can live for over 40 years in our sanctuary?
The sanctuary needs over 1 ton of food per day for the 77 bears currently living there! Your donation helps us to feed the bears, provide veterinary treatment, care for the forest, maintain facilities such as the bears’ swimming pools and rescue the remaining captive bears around Romania.
Everyone involved has put this trek together unpaid, in order to create the most ethical way to raise as much money as possible for the sanctuary. The sanctuary touches your heart and never leaves you. Here is TOMORROWBEAR’s personal insight into the wonderful work of the sanctuary: The Bear Sanctuary
