Cabana Genţiana (1670 m) is situated in the Retezat National Park and surrounded by some of the most beautiful flora only seen in the Carpathians.

Please see my Retezat Mountain blog for information on this beautiful terrain,

“The tree roots, granite stones, moss, mushrooms, flowing rivers and flowers are towered over by the pine forests for the next hour or so until you reach this little “happy place” The Cabana Gentiana. I call it the happy place, for the name is soothing (depicting the species of flower surrounding it) and the chap who runs the cabana smiles beautifully in Romanian. If travelling solo, which I was on the descent, he is a friendly and calming man to come across. Additionally, I can relate to anyone who has a “wolf” that adores him.”

In the Pietrele Valley, between Bucura Lake and Cabana Pietrele. If you’re coming from Nucşoara, you can make a shortcut – omitting Cabana Pietrele. More peaceful than the hut complex of Pietrele.
